INKtober 2014 Wrap Up

So I decided to take part in INKtober this year and found that I really enjoyed the “formal” structure of doing an ink drawing a day.  Or at least attempting to do a drawing a day.  I ended up with 22 total pieces out of 31 days, which isn’t too bad.  I didn’t try to stick to a theme of any sort, although I did end up giving my aliens some personalities and having them enjoy the Halloween season.  I also decided I would try to do a map on Fridays, just for something different.  My mapping techniques are rough but I can definitely see improvement in some areas; it’s all about the practice.

So here are all 22 of my INKtober 2014 drawings, enjoy!

Lady Sings the Blues (Retro Circles series)

Naming this piece was easy.  Sometimes I have trouble, sometimes the name just comes to me without a problem.

A Moment (Retro Circles series)

Another in the Retro Circles series (yes, I just decided on that name).

Order Escaped (Retro circles series)

The first of my abstract circles series for which I still don’t have a name for.  A friend said that it looked like retro geometry, which I kind of like.  Retro-circular?  That would work as a series title.

Sun Mandala I and Sun Mandala II

Some more of my abstract mandala patterns. I like setting them asymmetrically on the page.

Abstract Pink Circles

This started out as an idea to just do floating circles against a blue water/wave background.  It ended up like this.

Reaching Out

This started out as an abstract flower and grew from there.  I added the swoopy parts to fill up more of the space and like how they look, although I might do them in a darker shade of green if I were redoing this.

New Spring (Sunny Day v2)

A little alien birdie with some Springtime trees.  I had a lot fun doing the border on this one instead of leaving it a plain line.
