This started out as an idea to just do floating circles against a blue water/wave background. It ended up like this.

Companion pieces for the Sun and Moon series. I’d been doing both for a bit but specifically did these two as a pair.

“Moon”

This started out as an abstract flower and grew from there. I added the swoopy parts to fill up more of the space and like how they look, although I might do them in a darker shade of green if I were redoing this.

A little alien birdie with some Springtime trees. I had a lot fun doing the border on this one instead of leaving it a plain line.

Wanted to revisit the Moondance scene with two of my aliens dancing under the moon. Not sure how well it worked and if I were to redo it, I’d change the dark treeline in the background and how I did the frame. The partial line coming down from the moon didn’t work out as well as I thought it would.

Something simple for this one – smiling happy sun shining on a springtime tree. I fancied up the border on a whim an while I like it, I want to start planning the border to be a part of the image more.

And here is the first of the alien portraits with the lines done in pen before adding color. I think this ends up looking much more finished and complete than not doing the lines and this particular alien is one of my favorites.

And here we have Alien Portrait #4. This is the last one I did without using pen on the lines to make them stand out more. These first four portraits turned out fine but I’ve decided I really like the punch of doing the lines and then coloring.

Today’s is Alien Portrait #3. I decided to try doing an alien swimming this time and while I like how it turned out, I think next time I’ll do the lines in pen first before coloring. The other pieces I’ve done like that have turned out much more finished looking, IMO.
